General Responsibilities:
The Research Analyst is primarily responsible for the researching of the social and environmental records of publicly traded United States and Canadian companies, as well as for in-depth background research on specific issues of environmental and social concern. In addition, the Research Analyst will be expected to cover a certain number of international companies as well. The analyst will be expected to:
- Maintain a broad knowledge of social and environmental issues as they relate to North American companies and how they relate to international norms and standards
- Have a good understanding of the North American regulatory and cultural environments and how they relate to international norms and standards
- Have a good understanding of the North American business environment and business models of North American industries and how they relate to international norms and standards
- Contribute to the refining process of Domini’s research processes
- Analyzing company documents, press articles, and third-party reports in order to evaluate companies according to Domini's standards regarding environmental management, product quality, and corporate relations with customers, employees, investors, and communities
- Completing profiles of North American companies in a timely manner
- Contacting community, environmental, human rights, labor and other public interest organizations that analyze the social and environmental records of companies
- Attending Investment Committee meetings and presenting research to the Investment Committee
- Communicating and collaborating with the advocacy team
- Keeping current on developments in the social investment industry
- Developing and maintaining in-depth and focused understanding of specific social and environmental issues
- Answering shareholder inquiries about the Domini funds
- Professional experience required, experience in sustainability or SRI research highly desirable.
- Solid writing and research skills, including the ability to produce definitive analysis.
- Knowledge and strong interests in social and environmental issues, particularly in corporate and investment context.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and/or responsible investing
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to execute tasks in a timely manner.
- Familiarity with research methodologies and processes.
- Broad interest in the business and financial worlds.
- Bachelor's degree in related fields (social sciences, finance, business, humanities, environmental science, etc.). Graduate degree preferable.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
