Kao Group

Held in the Domini International Opportunities Fund portfolio.

The Kao Group is a global developer of chemical and consumer beauty products. The company recently launched a sustainability initiative to help independent palm oil smallholders in Indonesia improve their yields, acquire international certification, and eventually secure sales premiums from selling certified palm oil. [i] This has both economic and environmental impact because palm oil can be found in as many as 70 percent of all beauty products. [ii] Results show Kao’s efforts have helped improve independent palm oil smallholder farmers’ ability to produce certified palm oil in Indonesia.
