We hear from experts Paula Ehrlich , President and CEO, E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation about their ambitious Half-Earth Project biodiversity map and Gavin Edwards , Global Coordinator, New Deal for Nature & People, WWF International on The New Deal for Nature and People 2020 which lays out a plan on how we can all play a part in fighting against nature loss. Domini will moderate the discussion and share how we’re helping to spur the financial and corporate communities to save biodiversity.


Speakers

Paula J. Ehrlich , DVM, PhD, is the President & CEO of the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation, dedicated to the worldwide protection of biodiversity. Dr. Ehrlich leads the Half-Earth Project, which is driving the research needed to better understand and care for our world and engaging people to participate broadly in the goal to conserve half the Earth and protect the bulk of biodiversity.

Dr. Ehrlich was formerly President & CEO of the Drug Discovery Center of Innovation, Senior Director of Scientific Affairs at Ansaris and Locus Pharmaceuticals, and Preclinical Oncology Imaging Lead & Associate Franchise Director at Merck Research Laboratories. She has held research, clinical, and teaching positions at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, the Atlantic Veterinary College, and the Royal Veterinary College.

Dr. Ehrlich has a B.S. in Zoology from Duke University, a Masters degree in Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia, a DVM from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, and a PhD in Bone Physiology from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London.

Gavin Edwards  has more than two decades of experience leading conservation and environmental advocacy programmes. He joined WWF in 2013, where he worked as Conservation Director for WWF-Hong Kong. Prior to this, Gavin worked for Greenpeace as a Global Strategic Advisor. Gavin now works as Global Coordinator, New Deal for Nature & People, WWF International, coordinating WWF’s effort to help secure a New Deal for Nature & People, with the aim of enlisting the support of governments, businesses, the finance sector and civil society to commit to and implement plans to put nature on a path to recovery within a decade.

He holds an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago and Hong Kong University of Science & Technology in China.

Corey Klemmer joined Domini in 2018 as the Director of Engagement. Corey’s diverse experience with law, financial analysis, corporate engagements and issue-based organizing enables her to lead Domini’s efforts as a voice for change. She is responsible for leading Domini’s engagement efforts with portfolio companies and broader stakeholder groups, as well as developing initiatives and campaigns.

Prior to joining Domini, Corey served as an analyst at the AFL-CIO Offi­ce of Investment where she worked with pension funds, policy makers and other stakeholders to advocate for forward-thinking investor perspectives on many issues including systemic risk, human capital management, student debt, criminal justice reform, and corporate disclosure reform. Her legal background includes work with the Strategic Counsel for Corporate Sustainability, The Initiative for Responsible Investment and her work as an attorney at The Lambert Firm prior to joining AFL-CIO.

Corey graduated cum laude from Amherst College with a B.A. in Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought and earned her J.D. from Tulane University Law School.
